The Prince rouge clip - one of the rare male figures of Van Cleef & Arpels - drew inspiration from the tale’s character of the prince, Peau d'Âne’s future husband. The prince is represented in his red costume due to Jacques Demy’s film, and the central emerald pays homage to the Gâteau d'amour ring that the princess slips into the cake she makes for the prince, enabling him to find her again.
